Things appear to be quite efficient in Pakistan’s Human Rights Department as Ms Minister is taking quite prompt actions on issues needing urgent addressal.
One such commendable move was taken recently as a teacher is suspended due to her discriminatory attitude with a student belonging to the minority. The complaint was registered to Minister Human Rights by the family of a 4th grade student of Government Boys Primary School, Dhok Fateh, District Attock.
After District Education Officer visited the concerned school, holding meetings with students and teachers, the teacher alleged of unjust and invidious behaviour has been suspended. To probe the matter and investigate in more detail, a departmental inquiry has been set up before a final action is taken.
The move came after the message was received by Minister, which stated that Sharjeel Masih was allegedly beaten and verbally disrespected by the headmistress of the school for simply drinking water from the tap. The WhatsApp message was tweeted by Mazari that narrated the incident and also urged the concerned authorities for urgent action.
“You are a Christian, you a choohra so you cannot get an education from a government school.” – read the message.
Pleasantly and very appreciably, the action was taken in Sahrjeel’s case. Shireen herself shared it on Twitter.
“Acted on this complaint of such horrific discrimination against a child. The teacher has been suspended today & department inquiry set up before final action.” – she wrote on the microblogging site.

Furthermore, the affected child’s parents have also requested her to file a complaint against the headmistress for violating Article 27 of the Constitution of Pakistan – which ensures equal rights for citizens regardless of their religious affiliations.
