Tech giant OPPO to establish a production unit in KPK

CEO of OPPO, George Long, in his meeting with KP Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra has discussed the plan of setting up a production unit in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). The tech giant believes that setting a production unit locally will meet local demand for smartphones. Along with that, it will also attract investment and create job opportunities in the country.
The objective of the meeting was to discuss the benefits of investing in Pakistan and setting up a production unit in KP. Special assistant to KP CM on Science & Technology and Information Technology, Kamran Bangash was also part of the meeting.
The leading Chinese manufacturer aims to produce quality products for the locals while creating 4,000 jobs simultaneously for the local market. Taimur Jhagra supported the idea and assured all support from the government’s end.
Huawei to also invest $100mn in Pakistan:
Previously, Huawei has also announced for a $100mn investment in Pakistan. The incoming investment will shift Pakistan’s focus towards technology, will lead to significant growth in the economy while creating job opportunities as well.
The company is looking forward to using this investment to upgrade the technical support center of the company. It also looks forward to establishing the regional headquarters in the federal capital Islamabad.
Vice President of Huawei Group Mark Xueman says that Pakistan, with being a strategic market for China, also holds a lot of potential for the brand Huawei. Hence, the company has decided to establish its regional headquarter for the South Asian region in Islamabad.
