The Kartarpur Corridor Ceremony – Twitteratti Reacts To The Historical Event

Marking one of the most important days for the subcontinent today, Prime Minister Imran Khan performed groundbreaking of Kartarpur corridor.

Kartarpur corridor connects Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur area of Narowal district to Dera Baba Nanak in India’s Gurdaspur district. Laying foundation stone is not only a monumental moment for the Sikh community but also an initiation of civilised ties with long-rival India from Pakistan’s end.

Indian delegation including Minister for Housing Hardeep S. Puri, Minister for Food Harsimrat Kaur Badal and Punjab Minister for Local Government and Tourism and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu attended the historical ceremony.

Noorul Haq Qadri, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, took the stage first and termed the ceremony as an important event in the modern history. He added that in November next year, the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak will be celebrated in a befitting manner by people of Pakistan as well.

“India’s Constitution says there will be no discrimination on the basis of caste or creed. Baba Guru Nanak said this 549 years ago” – Sidhu said.

Sidhu further added that religion should never be seen through terrorism. Both countries need to realise that bloodshed is not the way forward and peace must prevail.

“Both the governments should realise that we have to move forward. My father used to tell me that Punjab Mail went till Lahore, I believe that it can go further till Peshawar, till Afghanistan,” – he added.

Emotional and touched, Harsimrat Kaur said that she never thought of visiting Pakistan but here she is today. She further added that she cannot believe she is seeing this happening in reality.

The remarkable event has also been widely appreciated by the twitter community and notables. Here is what the internet community has to say:
