The PKR 420 Million Online ‘Kumaiti’ Scandal That Shook Everyone!
While telling news sources, a victim revealed that Humaid pulled a scam of around Rs150 million to Rs200 million.
Recently, a news made rounds on social media where a social media influencer stole Rs420 million from people, mostly women, through a fake ballot ‘kumaiti’ system.
Owner of a home-based food business ‘Daily Bites,’ and handicraft start-up ‘Croise,’ Sidra Humaid scammed hundreds of her depositors by simply announcing that she had no means to pay off her committees to the 200 contributors. The victims also reached out to one another and formed a WhatsApp group to take official action against Humaid. However, until now, no one has approached official law agencies, as they are trying to solve the matter on their own.
Sidra Humaid’s reply
After the news spread like wildfire on social media, Humaid remarked that she will return the money to the people in the upcoming months. However, it is important to mention that her whereabouts are unknown.
While telling news sources, a victim revealed that Humaid pulled a scam of around Rs150 million to Rs200 million. Sana Adnan, another person who lost money in the ‘ponzi’ scheme remarked that most of the people knew Sidra for about seven to ten years. It was also revealed that the system was conventional, with members paying the amount every month. However, the committee would go to some ‘ghost’ member or someone in her family would be paid the total amount, but it turned out that the money was actually going to Sidra.
Another victim said that Sidra would post stories about expensive belongings, which showed where the money was going. A man, who lost Rs970,000, in the scheme said that he deposited Rs50,000 per month against an Rs500,000 payout scheme. Sidra’s father was also involved in the matter, who said that he will only return the money transacted in her account. However, the money was directly sent to those people who had a slot in the month.
