TikTok announces scholarships for Pakistani students: Here's how to apply

The popular video-streaming application TikTok has announced scholarships for Pakistani students.

TikTok has joined hands with ed-tech startup Edkasa and introduced scholarships for 18,000 Pakistanis. This scholarship program will provide grants to deserving students from across the country. According to details, following a partnership with LUMS, students who are selected for these funds will also be given more than two months of free Edkasa study materials, along with access to an exam pack for the grade that they have applied for.

TikTok announces scholarships for Pakistanis

In September 2022, TikTok, Edkasa, and LUMS launched a digital learning program to assist students in online education and distance learning for college/high school students. The ‘ExamReady‘ campaign was designed to help Pakistanis, and it had more than 500 videos about physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology and even included efficient study tips.

The videos proved to be useful for students and garnered more than 600 million views and 100 million video creations since it was first initiated. The scholarship program is just another way in which Edkasa and the social media platform are helping students, who come from underprivileged backgrounds.

Eligibility Criteria

For students to receive the scholarships, they have to be eligible. Below is the eligibility criteria:

  • High school students who are enrolled in Matriculation and Intermediate level education across Pakistan can apply
  • Scholarships will be distributed with the primary focus on students hailing from remote areas
  • Students who belong to disadvantaged communities and have limited access to academic guidance will be prioritized

How to apply?

In order to apply for the scholarship program, here is what you have to do:

  • First, download the Edkasa app from Google Play Store or App Store
  • Fill out the survey that is given on the application
  • Students will have to enter their name, the program or class they are enrolled in, the school where they are studying, and the result cards
  • Recipients will have to provide the required information to the donor

It is important to mention here that the selection of recipients is solely on the donor’s (Edkasa and TikTok) prerogative, and the scholarships will be done as per their discretion. The donor is not liable to provide any justification for their decision and the applicants cannot challenge it. Donors also have the right to amend the terms and conditions of the scholarships.

What will be the term of the scholarship?

The scholarship will be given throughout the term, and a total of 18,000 students will receive it for a period of two months each. The scholarship might also be revoked at the discretion of the donors.

Mode of learning

The mode of learning will be remote, and the recipient will have complete access to Edkasa’s exam pack only for the grade they have selected. The exam pack includes quizzes, video lectures, and other useful learning material. Recipients will also have the choice to change their selected subjects and boards from the application, and this won’t revoke their scholarship.
