‘Tim David preferred PSL over playing for Australia’: Mustaq Ahmed [VIDEO]
He added that the Multan Sultans had no doubt about his ability but everyone was surprised when the defending PSL champions picked him.
Multan Sultans’ assistant and spin bowling coach Mushtaq Ahmed has revealed that their top-performing all-rounder Tim David preferred the Pakistan Super League (PSL) over playing for the Australian cricket team.
The former cricketer appeared on a local sports show where he was asked about Tim David’s impressive performances in the PSL this season. Mushtaq Ahmed stated that the all-rounder had already performed well in the Big Bash League (BBL) and Abu Dhabi T10 League.
He added that the Multan Sultans had no doubt about his ability but everyone was surprised when the defending PSL champions picked him. However, the Sultans’ management was very clear about looking for a guy like him to bat at number 5 or 6.

Mushtaq Ahmed was also all-praise for Tim David’s humbleness. During the show, the Sultans’ assistant and spin bowling coach revealed that he was offered to be picked in the T20I series against Sri Lanka by Cricket Australia.
However, Tim David told them that he wants to fulfil his contract with the Multan Sultans and improve his cricket. “Despite not even understanding a word of Urdu, he spends most of his time with the local boys,” Mustaq said.
The legendary leg-spinner further added that David always talks about cricket, asking about his advise on how to play spin bowling in these conditions.
Following his great performance in the PSL, Tim David was picked by the Mumbai Indians during the IPL mega-auction. He landed Rs 8.25 crore contract with the five-time IPL champions.
