To provide relief to consumers, PM Khan approves Rs. 6 billion subsidy to the Utility Stores Corporation


To provide relief to people across the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to provide as much as 6 billion rupees subsidy to the Utility Stores Corporation (USC).

This was decided in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan took to her Twitter to announce the news.

“The amount will substantially bring down the prices of flour, edible oil, sugar, rice and pulses,” she said in a tweet.

As per details, PM Imran Khan had held three consecutive meetings in the last three days in this regard. The 6 billion relief package will result in rice, flour, pulses, sugar, and edible oil/ghee being available at a subsidized rate from the beginning of next month at 4,000 USC outlets.

Consumers across Pakistan will be provided with a subsidy of Rs. 132 per 20kg on flour, Rs. 20 per kg on rice, Rs. 9 on one kilogram of sugar, Rs. 30 per kg/liter on ghee/oil and Rs. 15 per kg on pulses.

“We strive to provide special relief to low-income groups and poverty-stricken families,” PM Imran Khan said during the meeting. The meeting was also attended by Khusro Bakhtiar, Murad Saeed, and Dr. Sania Nishtar. Murad Saeed announced that Pakistan Post will soon be starting a home delivery service to supply items to the poor and needy people at their doorstep.
