Karachi Additional IG Ameer Sheikh directed the police to start a helmet awareness campaign in the port city. The campaign started on July 1st and over 25000 people were penalized in the first two days.
The motorcyclists were fined for not wearing helmets, which was made mandatory as part of the campaign.
“It will be prohibited to ride a motorcycle on Sharae Faisal without a helmet,” Sheikh said.
Special appeals were made to the motorcyclists to abide by the rules and follow the safety measures, for their own sake. However, still, the carelessness regarding road safety and fearlessness with regards to the law lead to heavy fines.
