Transgender community to receive monthly stipend under the Ehsaas Punjab Masawaat Programme

The incumbent government is prioritizing the less privileged segment of society in all its projects.

In a bid to help the transgender community, the incumbent Punjab government has decided to pay a monthly stipend to transgender persons under a new program initiated by the country’s social protection authority.

The Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan and Punjab Social Protection Authority Vice-Chairperson, Jamal Nasir Cheema announced the decision while talking to the media channels in Lahore.

Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said:

Transgender people are a part of society and the ‘Ehsaas Punjab Masawaat Programme’ is a unique program under which they will be facilitated. Under this initiative, they will be given a monthly stipend.

Explaining details of the stipend initiative, the SACM further stated:

Under this program, disabled transgender persons between the age of 18 and 40 will be given Rs. 2,000 per month, while transgender persons above 40 years will be given Rs. 3,000 per month.

Concluding the statement, she said:

The incumbent government is prioritizing the less privileged segment of society in all its projects. CM Usman Buzdar has announced a package of Rs. 9 billion in Bhakkar to bring the people of Bhakkar into the mainstream of development.

The program ‘Ehsaas Punjab Masawaat Programme’ is a ray of sunshine for the transgender community of Pakistan. After a long spell of being ignored and outcasted, things are finally looking up for them.
