Turkey to start skill development project in Pakistan, likely to create 1.5 million jobs
All the expenses will be managed by the Turkish government.
To accomplish its set goal of improving staff of local hotel and tourism industry, the government of Turkey has decided to start a skill development project in Pakistan.
As per Dr. Nasir Khan, the Executive Director of National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), they plan to initiate a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Hospitality and Construction in Pakistan is in action.
In an interview with APP, Dr. Nasir stated that the center will be initiated at National Skills University in Islamabad, under the skills development institution of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency.

As per him, all expenses will be managed by the Turkish government. These expenses may include hiring the workforce and even the construction cost.
“It is the first project of its kind in Pakistan launched by Turkey as it has special expertise in the sectors of hospitality and construction in the world,” – he continued.
The project of establishing a modern center for hospitality excellence will confirm that 1.5 million employment opportunities are available yearly for the skilled staff in hotels and tourism industry in Pakistan.
As per NAVTTC, Pakistan has over 10,000 hostels, including three, four and five stars. These contain more than 50,000 rooms.
Employment opportunities for 1.5 million people:
Pakistan’s hotel and tourism industry will produce employment opportunities for 1.5 million people, this is 2.5% of the total employment produced annually by Pakistan, as per Dr. Nasir. He hopes that the Turkish center will increase this ratio of employment opportunities in Pakistan.
“The Centre would not only ensure production of trained workforce for development projects of the country like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) but also provide employment opportunities to youth in foreign countries,” – said Dr. Nasir.
As per him, NAVTCC’s main aim is to prepare a staff that is skilled, while teaching them about technical education so they can get jobs not only in Pakistan but also abroad.
The Turkish center of excellence will be a big helping hand in NAVTTC’s aim to provide technical training. As per Dr. Nasir, NAVTCC is making maximum efforts for the lifting of technical and professional education, it has also taken notice for the need of changes for formal education. As per him, the world is way ahead of Pakistan in these training programs.
With the help of Turkish skills development institutions, the quality of our own skill development educational institutes will improve. Its establishment is a step towards Prime Minister’s vision of a developed Pakistan.
