Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain has been arrested by Scotland Yard in an early morning raid today, Tuesday. According to a local news source, credible security sources have revealed that Altaf Hussain was arrested this morning and taken to a local police station.

”After Asif Ali Zardari and Hamza Shahbaz arrested in Pakistan now big news coming that Scotland Yard arrested MQM Leader Altaf Hussain in London”, wrote Abdul Ghaffar, Dawn News.

The said sources further revealed that 15 officers took part in a dawn raid at his north London home. Meanwhile, a forensic unit of Scotland Yard is searching the residence of Altaf Hussain. Meanwhile, MQM sources have confirmed that Altaf Hussain was arrested.

Although it is a developing story and the cause is still unknown, it is believed that the MQM leader has been arrested in relation to the hate speech of 2016 in which he had urged his followers to take the law into their own hand. The reports further add that he has been arrested on complaints registered by Pakistan.

He is accused of inciting people to violence through his telephonic speeches. Also, he issued violent threats to then DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar. Following his August 12 speech which led to attacks on TV stations and violent protests, MQM faced a crackdown.
