UAE’s food assistance program to tackle the issue of malnutrition in Pakistan
Both of them discussed the significance of public communication in raising awareness about food security along with the effects of climate change.
Minister of the State along with Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Public Communication and Digital Platforms, Fahad Haroon, have met with the United Arab Emirates Consul General, Bakheet Al Romaithi, in Karachi.
Both of them discussed the significance of public communication in raising awareness about food security along with the effects of climate change. The meeting was based on the UAE food programs for Pakistan, initated by Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the meeting, a visiting media delegation from UAE was informed by Haroon about the initiatives that Pakistan is taking specifically in the province of Sindh to combat food insecurity. The Consul General also expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between Sindh Government and UAE on the ‘Emirates Humanitarian’ medical campaign in Sindh to provide medical facilities to the poor.
The UAE’s Pakistan Assistance Program (UAE-PAP) has provided assistance in a number of fields such as health, education, poverty alleviation, education and disaster relief.
As per the latest Acute Malnutrition Analysis analysis conducted by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification, acute malnutrition is at a critical level in eight districts of Sindh while it is serious at one of the districts. According to the data, the overall malnutrition prevelance in the country is 38.3% with 9.7 million wasted children under the age of five years.
The UAE’s food assistance program combined with Pakistan’s initiatives will tackle the issue of malnutrition in the country.
