Uruguay study reveals Chinese vaccine ‘CoronaVac’ reduces mortality by 97%

A report published by the Uruguayan Ministry of Health has revealed that the Chinese coronavirus vaccine, CoronaVac, reduces mortality by 97%.

According to the report, the chances of coronavirus infection decreases by 57%, and also intensive care admissions by 95% in people who have received two doses of the CoronaVac vaccine.

CoronaVac has widely divergent reported results. It has been produced by a Chinese firm named Sinovac.

There have been several scientific publications on the effectiveness of the Chinese vaccine as compared to other vaccines. Regardless, CoronaVac has been widely used in China and also in two dozen other countries.

Chile reported that the early results from its immunization campaign found the Chinese vaccine to be 67% effective in halting symptomatic infections and 80% in preventing deaths.

Similarly, data from Brazil showed the vaccine to be 50% effective in deterring symptomatic infections, and data from Turkey revealed that it had been over 80% effective.
