US Gives $3.3 Billion Military Aid To Israel, Cuts Humanitarian Aid To Palestine

In what is being regarded as the largest aid package in American history, the US House of Representatives has passed a bill this week to deliver a $3.3 billion military aid to Israel. In addition to that, US is looking to appoint an international tsar to monitor anti-Semitism and criticism of Israel across the world.

The $3.3 billion aid will be delivered to Israel over the next year. The giant figure is likely to increase by an additional $550 million as an outcome of Congress passing a $716 billion defence bill. Another $1 billion has been reserved and set aside for US weapon stockpiles in Israel that Israel taps into while escalating violence against Lebanon and Palestine.

In the year 2016, USA agreed to give Israel $38 billion over the decade as military aid. However, media maintained silence but along with this bill, President Donald Trump also cut off humanitarian aid to UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency) that is working to provide necessary life provisions to more than 5 million Palestinian refugees.

In the month of August, the bill officially called as ‘’United States – Israel Security Assistance Authorization Act of 2018’’ was passed through Senate after a popular vote. What is being regarded as the single largest military aid package in the history of US, the popular international reporting source Mintpress says that the astronomical sum translates to $23,000 for every single Jewish family living in Israel.

In addition to the massive amount, the new legislation also assures Israel military that NASA will closely cooperate with Israel space agency. The second bill by Congress asks for a special government envoy to be assigned the task of combatting anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic incitement occurring in foreign countries.
