US Mission confirms commencement of four-week long Women in Energy Scholars Programme for Pakistani students

The US Mission Pakistan has confirmed the commencement of the four-week Future of Women in Energy Scholars Programme of the US-Pakistan Women’s Council (USPWC).

The event will begin on 5th June 2022, and 17 female students from Pakistan have participated in the certification programme to learn about the energy sector. They will get the unique opportunity to study energy infrastructure and issues at the Texas A&M University’s campus in Qatar, encouraging women to participate in Pakistan’s energy sector.

After spending two weeks in Qatar, the students will return back to Pakistan, where they will be given a familiarization trip about the country’s energy sector the remaining half of the programme. They will be walked through key private and public sector organizations in Lahore and Islamabad.

The female students who have taken part in the programme are currently pursuing bachelor’s degrees in science and engineering at public and private universities across the country.

The goal of the US Mission is to help Pakistani women in pursuing career options in the energy sector and contribute to the prosperous future.

”The USPWC Future of Women in Energy Scholars Program will give young women hands-on experience in the energy sector,” the USPWC Executive Director Radhika Prabhu said.
