US Mission Pakistan expands eligibility for interview waiver The United States Mission in Pakistan has expanded the eligibility for the interview waiver for Pakistanis. This is for citizens renewing their B1/B2 tourist and business visas at the US embassy in Islamabad and the US consulate general in Karachi.

In a press release, the US embassy said that Pakistani citizens who are 45 years old or above and whose B1/B2 visas are valid or have expired in the last 48 months are eligible to take part.

This initiative will improve not just customer service, but also make the process of tourist and business visa renewals for eligible Pakistanis easier.

B1/B2 Visa

The B1/B2 visa is a temporary, non-immigrant visa that permits holders to travel to the US for tourism or business. A holder of this visa is not allowed to accept employment or work in the US and there is no guarantee that an applicant will be granted a visa.

Those applicants who are eligible for scheduled appointments are contacted and informed of the option to submit their applications through the new process. On the other hand, as required by US law, a few eligible visa owners will still have to appear at the US embassy or consulate-general for interviews after their applications are submitted.

Applicants can visit the US Travel Docs website to check if they are eligible for an interview waiver.
