Usman Buzdar Approves Biometric System for Vehicle Registration

The Punjab Chief Minister, Sardar Usman Buzdar, has approved the introduction of a biometric verification system for the registration or transfer of motor vehicles within Punjab. During an important meeting led by CM Usman Buzdar, the said development took place in the presence of other notable figures.

Buzdar applauded the initiative and stated, “this development shall help make things easy for the public as they won’t have to visit the Excise and Taxation Department and wait in queues for long hours to get their cars registered. The government shall ensure the introduction of this system, which offers efficiency and convenience of international standards.”

Buzdar also added that going forward, the applicants shall be able to get their cars registered after going through biometric verification. The verification facility shall be offered at NADRA, the Department of Excise and Taxation, or any authorized dealership. The registration progress would also be accessible through applicants’ phones.

Buzdar also highlighted that the government faced obstacles in the process of vehicle registration number plate issuance because of the non-availability of number plates. However, these obstacles will soon be eliminated, and the government will accelerate the process.

Along with general convenience, this facility shall also allow the people to practice vigilance and steer clear of dealerships that offer to get the registration done through an unauthorized channel.
