[VIDEO] Bilawal, Bakhtawar Zardari release 300 baby turtles into the sea
On Monday, the chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with his sister releasds newborn turtles into the sea.
- Every year, hundreds of green sea turtles arrive at Hawkes Bay and Sandspit beaches in November and October, lay their eggs in the sand, and leave.
- The Wildlife Department takes care of these eggs until the baby turtles are hatched.
- Moreover, the wildlife department also held the country’s first-ever President’s Award for Pride of Performance for marine turtle conservation.
On Monday, the chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with his sister released newborn turtles into the sea.
When the female turtle releases its eggs in the sand, the Ministry of Wildlife protects them and then the newly born turtles are released into the sea, where their natural life starts.
The wildlife department further briefed Bilawal that the organization is engaged in marine turtle protection for the past 34 years.
Sindh Local Government Minister, Nasir Hussain Shah, and Bangul Khan Mahar, the special assistant to Chief Minister on Wildlife and Forest accompanied Bilawal and Bakhtawar at the Marine Turtle Conservation Unit at Hawkes Bay.
Moreover, the wildlife department held the country’s first-ever President’s Award for Pride of Performance for marine turtle conservation.
Hawkes Bay & Sandspit:
Green sea turtles arrive at the sandy beaches of Hawkes bay and Sandspit every year in the month of October and November. However, the turtles lay eggs and leave after burying them.
After that, the staff of the wildlife department takes care of the nesting. Moreover, when the baby turtles come out of the eggs after 40 to 60 days, they are safely released at the shore.
Decades later, they return to the site of their birth.
