[VIDEO] Bill Gates shows admiration and appreciation for Pak Army's efforts for polio eradication

Both reaffirmed to fight polio with all might.

The Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates discussed Pakistan’s polio eradication program over the phone. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released an official statement of the call.

According to the statement, Gates was very impressed with Pakistan Army’s crucial role in managing polio eradication drives all over the country. He lauded the Army’s indispensable role in terms of supervision, security provisions, and capacity gaps reconciliation.

“Making Pakistan a polio-free country is part of our national duty. Our healthcare workers play the central role in making this possible, as they operate at the front line. These healthcare workers have now taken up the fight against COVID-19 outbreak, too,” General Bajwa responded to the admiration.

 

Restarting the polio eradication campaign

General Bajwa went on to state that Pakistan Army is assisting the government in restarting the anti-polio campaign. He confirmed that preparations are underway to resume the drive in the coming weeks

Following this, General Bajwa and Gates decided to enter a fruitful collaboration. The collaboration intends to join efforts to enhance the resilience of Pakistan’s population by focusing on improving the education system, accommodating flexible healthcare management, and utilizing technology effectively. These activities would help prepare the country counter emergencies that include future pandemics.

General Bajwa went on to appreciate Gates’ continuous hard work through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and acclaimed his mission to eradicate polio in Pakistan. After this expression of gratitude, General Bajwa concluded the conversation by saying that Pakistan Army will stand by the Gates Foundation and will continue to support its initiative for the betterment of Pakistan.
