A doctor named Faraz Munir allegedly confined his sister to a room in his house for four years. He subjected her to torture to avoid paying her share of the family inheritance.

In a raid on Munir’s residence in Lahore, the police took Shabnam Farooq, identified as the victim, into their custody.

In the police complaint, she claims that Faraz had confined her to a room for four years.

Shabnam added that owing to his influence, her brother had prepared documents in which she was declared mentally ill.

To detail her ordeal, the victim said she was sent to psychiatric hospitals on and off during this time.

She added, “Whenever I was discharged, my brother and his wife would torture me and even gave me drugs which ruined my mental health.”

A decade ago, Shabnam left her home and moved to Multan, where she began working for a local bank and a call center.

She said, “Faraz came to Multan and forced me to come and live with his family in Lahore. He did this because he sold our father’s house for PKR 1.4 million and didn’t give me a single penny.”

The victim said she had managed to call her neighbors, who informed the police about the situation.

The neighbors told a source that they could hear her screams from their house.
