VIDEO | Muneeb Qadir shuts down Indian media alleging Imran Khan of ‘meddling’ with Indian elections

Indian General Elections are around the corner and the debates are getting heated up. The usual manipulation of anti-Pakistan sentiments for gains in the upcoming elections and strengthening the vote bank is again a frequent sight – particularly through media.

In such circumstances, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhary’s recent statement regarding dialogue with India provided them with an ideal chance to pursue it and turn it into something favourable for the upcoming elections.

Fawad Chaudhary said that this time is not ideal to hold dialogues with New Delhi at this time since elections are around the corner. He said that it is particularly because, at this time, no big decision or progress in this sphere can be expected.

“It is useless to talk to them (India) now unless there is some stability. We will move forward once the government is formed after the elections” – said Fawad.
”We have delayed our efforts to hold talks with India because we do not expect any big decision from the present Indian leadership” – he added.
Then asked which leader will ‘suit’ Pakistan more for peace talks, Narendra Modi or Rahul Gandhi, he responded saying it doesn’t matter. He added that Pakistan will move forward with the dialogue whoever comes in power.
The statements, of course, were taken out of context by the Indian media and it was alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan is trying to ‘meddle’ with and influence India’s elections. To speak on the matter, Pakistani lawyer and The News writer Muneeb Qadir was invited to represent Pakistan. Muneed is frequently invited on Indian media and is known for this rational defensive skills.
Shutting down the Indian media and their propaganda, Muneeb said that Pakistan is taking significant steps forward. He mentioned Asia Bibi’s acquittal and the role of courts, appointment of Saman Pawan Bodani, a Hindu woman as civil judge and Pakistan’s significantly decisive role in peace talks in Afghanistan. He also added that he supports Fawad Ch’s statement regarding negotiations at this point because the parties are ‘capitalizing’ on anti-Pakistan sentiments to gain votes.

Sharing the clip on this Facebook page, Muneeb wrote:

”Today I told the Indian media that Pakistan is progressing in terms of civil rights as well as economically with the appointment of a woman of a minority community, Ms. Suman Pawan Bodani as a civil judge and also with Pakistan’s positive role in making the Afghan peace talks a success recently. Indian media had issues with Pakistani Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry’s statement today that peace dialogue with India can only start after the general election with which I wholeheartedly agree. However, the Indian media tried to portray this as Pakistan’s meddling in their upcoming general election so I reminded them that it was the Indian media who tried to meddle in Pakistan’s elections in July last year by spreading false propaganda against Mr. Imran Khan and even going to the extent of interviewing Reham Khan again and again to get their dose of ‘gossip’. I also reminded them that while Pakistan is gradually taking steps towards protecting minority rights, even privileged actors in India are unsafe from attacks of their country’s nationalists. For example, just today India’s extreme rightwing party RSS’s leader Indresh Kumar has labeled actors Naseeruddin Shah and Aamir Khan as ‘traitors’. I told them to be brave enough to talk about peace since it is only cowards who try to initiate and spread wars”
