Recently, a video is circulating on social media, where men can be seen harassing and threatening a transgender.
This is not the only incidence of transgender violence in Pakistan. Over the past few years, the number of transgender murders hits record high in the country.
Human Rights Watch (hrw)
According to the Human Rights Watch (hrw) report, more than 60 transgender women have been murdered in KP since 2015.
The report further stated: “In January, a transgender woman was killed in Karak, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after being attacked on her way back from a music concert. In July, police in Sahiwal district, Punjab, found the bodies of two transgender women who had been tortured to death. In August, Honey, a transgender woman, was shot and killed in Manshera district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Activists claim that the concerned had not brought culprits to account.”
