Video: Spa in Egypt offers snake massage to help people relax
The Masseuse and spa owner Safwat Sedki told a source that snake massage helps "reduce muscle and joint pain" and improve blood circulation.
Not many people would associate snakes with a relaxing massage, but a spa in Cairo is hoping to change that by introducing a new snake massage.
The people visiting the Cairo spa can choose from several types of massages, including non-venomous snakes. In the spa, live snakes slither on the backs and faces of the people who are looking for pain relief.
The Masseuse and spa owner Safwat Sedki told a source that snake massage helps “reduce muscle and joint pain” and improves blood circulation.
While explaining the 30-minute session, Sedki said, “First, oil is rubbed on a client’s back, and then we use a combination of pythons or around 28 different types of non venomous snakes.”
A client at the spa, Diaa Zein, said he experienced a “sense of relaxation and rejuvenation” when the snakes were placed on his back.
Zein added, “I was initially nervous and scared of snakes being on my body. But the fear, anxiety, and tension was reduced, and the session gave me a sense of relaxation as the snakes moved over my back, and having them there boosted my self-confidence.”
