A video of a man damaging the statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Lahore Fort has gone viral on social media.

According to details, the man is said to be a TLP worker who pulled down the statue of Ranjit Singh. The nine-foot-tall statue shows the regal Sikh emperor sitting on a horse, sword in hand, in a complete Sikh attire. It was first unveiled in June 2019.

In the viral clip, the TLP supporter can be seen vandalizing the statue along with chanting slogans. The visitors then captured him before he could further damage the statue.

It is the third time that the figurine has been vandalized since 2019 by the TLP workers. In December 2020, a man broke the statue’s arm intending to destroy the monument but was apprehended on the spot. Besides, a mob also attacked the statue just after a few days of its placing in 2019.
