Here’s why Rihanna is trending on Twitter and Google.

Ever since Rihanna took to Twitter to share her thoughts about the ongoing farmers’ protest in India, the singer has become the country’s most prominent trending topic.

Recently, the international singer, actor, and entrepreneur tweeted in support of the ongoing farmers’ protests in the borders of Delhi. Rihanna shared a CNN news report on Twitter, which talked about the internet shutdown in the outskirts of Delhi in the light of hundreds of farmers protesting against the Indian government’s newly enacted farm laws. The esteemed singer tweeted:

Soon the singer’s tweet went viral on social media, and she garnered several negative and positive reactions from Indians. Many supported and praised her for raising her voice in support of the farmers. Farmers protesting at the Singhu Border also expressed their gratitude towards the singer and said:

We’re grateful to Rihanna ji for her support, though we did not know who she was until this evening. Our youngsters showed us the tweet just now and told us who she is. All the farmers from across the country want to thank Rihanna for supporting our voice and for the timely gesture she has made.

However, several questioned the singer for meddling in the country’s matters and claimed that her tweet was paid.

Rihanna trends on Google Searches

Following the tweet, Rihanna started trending on Google search too. Twitter flooded with netizens suggesting that they had heard about the singer for the first time. Therefore, many took to Google to search for more information about the singer. The most popular Google searches and queries around the word Rihanna included:

  • Is Rihanna Muslim?
  • Rihanna religion
  • The search result that topped the list was ‘Is Rihanna Pakistani?’

It should be noted that apart from Rihanna, several other international personalities also tweeted about the farmers’ protests. These celebrities included Greta Thunberg, Hasan Minhaj, Lilly Singh, John Cusack, Amanda Cerny, Mia Khalifa, and more.

Many celebrities are supporting farmer protests.

On the other hand, a day after Rihanna’s tweet, many Bollywood stars joined the Centre’s call to stand united against “propaganda” against India’s policies. The celebrity supporters included several Indian actors and directors like Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, Akshay Kumar, and sportspersons such as Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli Anil Kumble.
