The list of areas in Lahore, Islamabad that have been declared as ‘virus hotspots’

Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid announced that the provincial government has decided to seal areas in Lahore.

The CEO of Pakistan’s National IT Board, Shabahat Ali Shah shared a map of the current coronavirus hotspots in Lahore. Seeing the map, it is safe to say that the spread of the novel virus in the city is quite extensive.

Previously, Punjab Health Minister Yasmin Rashid announced that the provincial government has decided to seal areas in Lahore. The city has become a virus epicenter, with thousands of new cases emerging daily.

These virus hotspots will be sealed for two weeks, however, food stores, departmental stores, and medical stores will remain open. The provincial government has taken this much-needed step after the central government hinted that the cases might reach 1.2 million by the end of July if the same situation continues.

The National IT Board’s CEO shared that the map from the NCOC platform that has helped the government of Punjab to identify the virus hotspots and take the needed steps to stop the spread of COVID-19.

Following spots in Islamabad have also been declared as virus hotspots:

  • Sector I-8
  • Sector I-10
