Memon said that a high-pressure system from Oman would be the basis of the hot weather.

Is Karachi ready to fight the next big heatwave? - Pakistan - DAWN.COMTwo heatwaves have been forecast for Karachi in the month of Ramadan.

This was revealed by the amateur meteorologist, Jawad Memon, while speaking on SAMAA TV’s morning show Naya Din.

Memon said that a high-pressure system from Oman would be the basis of the hot weather.

“A moderate to strong system may take the weather up to 43°C,” he said.

“The conditions are in general warm in Karachi in the months of April and May.”

It will be hotter as the weather system gets closer to Pakistan. The northern winds will turn the weather hot and dry, he said.

“There are very few chances of showers in Karachi as the system will linger around the Gujarat region and the Arabian Sea.”

He said that the situation is uncommon as summer began harshly.

“The mercury went from 39°C to 40°C a few days ago, and the temperature last night was 25.5°C. This shows that the nights are becoming warm. This is a clear sign that the city is experiencing a heatwave,” Memon added.

He went on to say that the peak of the heatwave will be from the 1st of April till the 3rd of April, and there will be intense heat in several parts of the city.

The meteorologist added that the rise in Arabian Sea level about 1% to 1.5% played a crucial role in the intensity of rainfall in Karachi’s previous monsoon season.
