India started pressing for traceability of Watsapp messages following several incidents of lynchings that linked to the rumors spread through WhatsApp. A professor at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras has said that the issue can be easily resolved without even diluting the end-to-end encryption and other terms of privacy.

The professor claims that If Whatsapp says it is not technically probable to show the origin of the message, he can make it possible.

How to trace messages without harming end-to-end encryption?

When a message is sent through Whatsapp then the identity of the originator can only be seen by the recipient. When that recipient transfers the same message that his/her identity can also be revealed by the second recipient added that as the part of the court ruling those who forward harmful messages can also be held responsible. This is how the originator of the message can be traced without any harm to the end-to-end privacy policy of Whatsapp with the help of investigating agencies, Khaleej Times reported.
