Woman who accused family friend of raping her withdrew case, saying “suspect” was her husband

Lahore- A woman who had accused her family friend of raping her withdrew the allegation, saying the “suspect” was her husband.
According to details earlier, the woman had claimed that six months ago, she came to Pakistan from the United Kingdom to attend her father’s funeral. She said she was staying at the house of her father’s close friend in Lahore, where his son sexually assaulted her for three days.
Police had filed a rape case against the suspect and arrested him.
However, the woman later appeared before a judicial magistrate and stated that the suspect was her husband.
The Deputy Inspector General (investigation), Shariq Jamal Khan, told a source that the woman had first accused the man of sexually abusing her for three days. However, during the investigation, she refused to undergo a medical examination and also backtracked on a rape charges.
The DIG also revealed that the woman was also involved in several cases of bounced cheques, fake ID cards, and documents to hide her identity.
The investigator of the case said a marriage certificate was presented by the families of both the woman and the suspect showing she was married to the suspect. Following this, she withdrew the rape charge, he added.
He further added the police investigations revealed the woman never visited the UK and that she belonged to Multan.
