Woman calls off wedding because husband-to-be does not memorize the ‘Table of 2’ correctly
According to sources, the woman had been suspicious of her would-be partner’s meager educational qualifications.
In a shocking turn of events, a woman in Uttar Pradesh, India, called off her wedding as her groom failed to recite the multiplication table of two.
According to sources, the woman had been suspicious of her would-be partner’s meager educational qualifications. Therefore, the bride tested him on the wedding day by asking him to recite the multiplication table before exchanging garlands.
A media outlet reported that the groom from Dhawar village’s Mahoba district failed to deliver the table of two correctly. This incapability prompted the woman to call off the marriage.
Following the woman’s decision, family members and villagers who attended the arranged marriage ceremony appealed to the bride to continue with the ceremony. However, the woman was determined in her decision and said:
I will not marry a person who does not know the basics of mathematics.
While talking to a media outlet, the bride’s cousin said they were shocked to find out that the groom was uneducated. They stated:
The groom’s family had kept us in the dark about his education. He may not have even gone to school. The groom’s family has cheated on us. But my brave sister walked out without fearing social taboo.
According to sources, villagers intervened in the matter and convinced both parties (families of bride and groom) to accept the new decision and return any exchanged gifts and jewelry. Following the intervention, no police report was lodged for the fraudulent misrepresentation as both parties had struck a settlement.
