Woman allegedly gang-raped in front of her husband inside her home. Whose fault is it now?
The culprits barged into the victim's house around 11 pm and gang-raped her.
In yet another horrific incident, a married woman was allegedly raped by two men in front of her husband and children in a suburban area of Taunsa Sharif on Friday.
According to details, two men Ilahi Bakhsh and Fayyaz Ahmed barged into the victim’s house around 11 pm and gang-raped the woman in front of her husband and children. They also threatened the family with dire consequences before fleeing the scene.
The victim’s family approached the DSP Taunsa and Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, but no one listened to them. Later on, the Police lodged a case but failed to arrest the culprits.
The Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Usman Bazdar, took notice of the unfortunate incident and ordered the RPO Dera Ghazi Khan to present a report.
Earlier, the newly appointed Police Chief of Lahore, Umar Shaikh, while speaking to various news channels blamed the woman who was gang-raped on the Sialkot-Lahore motorway. He criticized the woman for traveling alone late at night. He blamed her again for not having ample petrol in her car and said women should not go out alone after midnight because of the mindset of our society.
In this case, the Taunsa rape victim was inside her home, and she was with her husband, but even that could not save her.
Police in every country or state are responsible for protecting their citizens and controlling crimes of sexual violence. However, every now and then, those who are supposed to protect them end up blaming women for being raped.
