Abro also hinted at the inauguration of ML-1 in 2020.

Pakistan Railways Chief Executive Officer, Ijaz Ahmed Abro has termed 2019 as the year of e-ticketing and a digital revolution for the state entity. While addressing a meeting at Pakistan Railways Headquarters, Abro said 2019 witnessed a record increase in online bookings. He vowed to increase e-ticketing to 100% in 2020.

The Chief Executive further said that no seat was left vacant in 2019. Pakistan Railways repaired 275 coaches in the past year. 24 new trains were also run from August 18th, 2019, to December 14th, 2019. Abro said that 75 Chinese coaches were added to Pakistan Railways. One or two more trains would be made functional until May 2020 as well.

After Pakistan Army, Pakistan Railways is the second largest intuition of the government.

He also lauded the role of Divisional Workshops and Carriage factories, saying that without their cooperation, no new trains could have been made operational. Over the past year, Pakistan Railways repaired 31 bridges while renewing and restoring 157-km railway tracks in different divisions.

Abro also hinted at the inauguration of ML-1 in 2020.
