You can’t compare Karachi with Mohenjo-Daro. The latter had the BEST sewerage system in the world!
Factually, it would be wrong to compare Karachi with the Mature Harappan city as the latter had settlements with some of the ancient world's most advanced sewerage systems.
In Yesterday’s Karachi protest, a protester was holding a banner, which compared the DHA’s dreadful condition with the ancient city of Mohenjo-Daro.

Mohenjo-Daro’s remarkable drainage system
The drainage system was one of the most distinctive features of the ancient city. All the streets and lanes across neighborhoods in Mohenjo-Daro had gutters.
Besides, there was also provision for managing wastewater inside the houses with vertical pipes in the walls. The pipelines then led to chutes opening on to the lane and drains from bathing floors that flowed towards the street drains.
The sewers were typically made of baked brick, with special framed bricks to form corners. The bricks were closely incorporated and sealed with mud mortar.
Yesterday, DHA and Clifton residents gathered outside the Cantonment Board Clifton office to protest against the post-rain situation in the two localities.
The residents were carrying banners and chanting slogans and demanded that the drainage system be improved in both areas. They called upon the CBC chief executive officer to address their concerns.
