Karachi: Young prisoner convicted for murder in 2010 receives PKR 1 million scholarship

Karachi-A young murder convict named Naeen Shah in Central Jail has received a PKR 1 million scholarship after scoring over 86% marks in the intermediate examinations as a private candidate.

Impressed with his achievement, the Chartered Accountants of Pakistan has offered PKR 1 million scholarship to Naeem, who intends to pursue a degree in chartered accountancy.
Naeem was sentenced to 20 years in 2010. He has been allowed to pursue higher studies upon maintaining an excellent moral demeanor, the management of the Karachi Central Jail told the local media.
The Senior Superintendent of Central Jail, Muhammad Hassan Sehto, said, “While in prison, he resumed his studies. He took his matriculation and intermediate exams respectively, acquired excellent grades, and secured a place in top 20 students.”
After his intermediate results, Shah applied for an ICAP internship, which was granted, given his exceptional academic performance.
“The ICAP stated that Naeem Shah was eligible for the scholarship program. He has been given a scholarship of PKR 1 million,” the superintendent informed.
The official added, “Naeem showed good behavior and spent most of his time studying. Jail management also motivated him and provided him with all possible study help.”
