Yuzvendra Chahal Rates This Pakistani a Better Batsman Against Spin Than Steve Smith
Yuzvendra Chahal was asked to pick from five options.
Indian leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, has rated Pakistani batsman Shoaib Malik as a better player against spin bowling compared to former Australian captain, Steve Smith.
During an Instagram live session, the leg-spinner was asked to chose the best batsman of spin bowling. He was given five options that included India’s Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, Australia’s Steve Smith and England’s Joe Root.
Chahal picked his Indian teammates, Rohit and Kohli, as the best batters against spin bowling. However, he picked Shoaib Malik ahead of Steve Smith despite the former not being among the options.
“I was bowling to Shoaib Malik during the Asia Cup and was impressed with the way he was taking singles of good deliveries. I realised that this player has a lot of experience and I think he is better than Steve Smith when it comes to playing spin bowling,” he said.
“Virat and Rohit are obviously quality players of spin bowling so they will be at the top,” said Chahal.
Regarding Kane Williamson, Chahal said he makes life difficult for the bowlers considering that he plays the ball very late.
